The City of Whitehall Charter delineates various powers and duties to four volunteer boards and commissions including the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals, the Civil Service Commission, the Parks Commission and the Planning Commission. Board of Zoning and Building Appeals
The Board of Zoning and Building Appeals (BZBA) is charged with hearing and deciding appeals for exceptions to and variances in the City's Planning and Zoning Code.

Civil Service Commission
The Civil Service Commission is charged with adopting rules and regulations concerning the selection, promotion, demotion, discipline and removal of classified employees.

The Parks Commission is charged with the development, maintenance and operation of the City's parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities and programs.

The Planning Commission is charged with conducting studies and surveys, and preparing plans, reports and maps relative to the overall planning of the growth, development, redevelopment, rehabilitation and renewal of Whitehall.
