PRESS RELEASE 2019-022 Stolen Police Cruiser and Chase Photo for Website

On 10/16/19, at about 12:40am, the Whitehall Police were contacted by the Reynoldsburg Police to assist with a vehicle pursuit that originated in their city. A vehicle driven by Frederick Pace Jr, age 29, whose last known address was Sullivant Ave. in Columbus, had intentionally rammed several cruisers in Reynoldsburg and fled.

Reynoldsburg pursued the vehicle to the area of Fairway and E. Main St., in Whitehall, and Pace fled on foot into the woods. While officers were searching for Pace, he exited the woods and stole a Whitehall Police cruiser and fled the area.

Officers from Whitehall, Bexley, Columbus and other police agencies assisted with the pursuit of the police cruiser. Stop sticks were deployed and the cruiser was disabled. The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of E. Broad St. and Grant. Pace then fled a short distance on foot before being apprehended. Pace was transported to Grant Hospital for observation after his arrest.

Once cleared from the Hospital, Pace will be slated into the Franklin County Jail on numerous felony charges including Felonious Assault on a Police Office, Theft, and Failure to Comply.
