The privacy and security of information is of utmost importance to us, and we continue to take significant measures to protect that information. On May 27, 2022, the City of Whitehall detected that a ransomware infection began encrypting files stored on our network.

Upon learning of this issue, we contained the threat by disabling and isolating all unauthorized access to our network, restored all encrypted data, and immediately commenced a prompt and thorough investigation. As part of our investigation, we have been working very closely with external cybersecurity professionals experienced in handling these types of incidents. After an extensive forensic investigation and manual document review, we discovered that the unauthorized party accessed certain files containing personal information that were maintained on the affected systems.

To date, we are not aware of any reports of identity fraud or improper use of any of the impacted information. Out of an abundance of caution, on December 8, 2022 we provided written notification of this incident via U.S. Mail to individuals whose information was impacted.

Individuals with questions concerning this incident may call the dedicated and confidential toll-free response line that we have established at 1-833-896-7763 Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 9:00 pm ET, excluding major U.S. holidays.
