[ARCHIVED] Robbery and Kidnapping of Infant

PRESS RELEASE 2021-013 Photo

On 9/29/21, at about 4:37pm, the Whitehall Police were called to 3739 E. Broad St. on a report that a vehicle had just been stolen. Further information was received that there was an infant in the vehicle that was stolen.

Officers were advised the description of the vehicle and the suspect. A short time later, the vehicle was spotted by a Whitehall Police Officer on S. Yearling Rd. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it was spotted and it turned onto Mound St. As Officers tried to catch up to the vehicle, it struck another vehicle in the intersection of Mound St. and Beechwood Ave. The stolen vehicle then struck an occupied residence at 1001 Beechwood Ave. and the suspect fled.

The driver of the other vehicle involved was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The owner of the stolen vehicle suffered minor injuries during the theft of the vehicle and was taken to be treated. The infant was evaluated at the scene and appears uninjured.

“We are asking for the public’s help in this case,” stated Deputy Chief Dan Kelso. “We need to get this dangerous individual off the streets before anyone else gets hurt.” The suspect is described as a black male, 17 – 24 years old, with a thin build and long dreads. The suspect was last seen wearing a grey shirt and black pants. The suspect fled south from the scene of the accident.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact the Whitehall Police Department at 614-237-6333.
