A four year-old Whitehall girl, Andrea Umana, has been found safe after being taken from outside her Whitehall home.

Andrea was taken from her Kae Avenue home on the morning of August 12th, 2020 by a family member without her parents’ knowledge. Detectives were able to track the location of the family member and he was stopped by Indiana State Police Troopers on Interstate 70 near Terre Haute, Indiana. Andrea was unharmed and officers are working to reunite her with her family.

The family member who kidnapped Andrea is in custody and officers are in the process of filing formal charges. His identity will be released at a later time. He has an arrest warrant from an unrelated kidnapping of another child from the State of Indiana.

The Whitehall Police Department would like to thank the Indiana State Police in providing assistance in this investigation.
