On 09/05/19, Whitehall Police responded to the area of Langley Avenue & S. Hamilton Road on the report of a shooting. Upon arrival police found one male victim lying in the yard of 768 S. Hamilton Road, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by Whitehall Medics to Mt. Carmel East Hospital where he later died.
Whitehall Police took a male suspect into custody a short distance away at Kroger, 850 S. Hamilton Rd. The incident is still under investigation and the identities of the victim and suspect are not being released at this time. No charges have been filed at this point in the investigation.
Upon report of the shooting, Whitehall Police put nearby schools on lockdown as a safety precaution. The shooting was not in a school zone and no students were in danger at any time.
