On 11/21/18, Mulugeta Shiferaw was found shot to death in the parking lot of 4257 E. Main St. in Whitehall, Ohio.
On 12/03/18, Whitehall Police arrested 57-year-old Woldai Gebremedhin and charged him with the Aggravated Murder of Shiferaw. Gebremedhin, last known to reside in the area of 2300 Cleveland Ave, Columbus, Ohio, has been turned over to the custody to the Franklin County Jail.
During the course of this investigation, it was determined that this was not a random crime. The victim and suspect had been acquaintances for years and the shooting is believed to stem from a previous dispute.
According to Chief Mike Crispen, “This arrest is the result of hard work by the Whitehall Police Department’s Detective Bureau, Crime Analyst Unit, assistance and cooperation from the community, along with media attention.”
