On 7/7/18, at about 2:40 pm, The Whitehall Police responded to 4123 Ural Ave. on a report of a Domestic Violence incident. As Officers responded, it was reported that the residence was on fire. Whitehall Fire responded along with Police.
Arriving at the scene, Officers learned that 50-year-old Arthur McClain III, of Yale Ave. in Columbus, was at the residence and had attacked family members in the home. They were able to escape from the residence and as they fled, McClain barricaded the doors and started several fires within the residence.
The Whitehall SWAT Team responded due to the barricade situation. Once the fire was extinguished, entry was made into the residence. McClain was found deceased in the residence. There were no other injuries from the fire.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation has responded, along with the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, to assist in the investigation.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
