[ARCHIVED] Whitehall Police Request Help in Identifying Fatal Hit-Skip Suspect

On 02/21/18 at approximately 10:14 PM, Whitehall Police responded to a hit-skip accident at the intersection of E. Main St. and Shady Lane Rd. where a pedestrian was struck and killed. The vehicle in question was traveling westbound on E. Main St and turned southbound on Shady Lane Rd, striking the pedestrian, identified as Phillippe Schlagetter, age 57, who was crossing Shady Lane Rd. in the crosswalk. The vehicle fled south on Shady Lane Rd. without stopping. Schlagetter died at the scene.

Whitehall Police are asking for help from the public in identifying the vehicle and driver. Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the crash or who may have information about the identity of the driver is asked to call the Whitehall Police (614-237-6333). Detectives have reviewed and are continuing to review video from local businesses. “It would be in the best interest of the individual responsible for this to come forward and give their side of this incident,” said Dep. Chief Dan Kelso, “because sooner or later we are going to find you. We ask this person to do the right thing now and come forward.”
