[ARCHIVED] Whitehall Police Arrest Teenager for Attempted Murder

On 10/17/17, at approximately 4:30 PM, Whitehall Police responded to the area of Beechrun Rd and Doney Rd on the report of a possible stabbing. Upon arrival, police found a 15-year-old female victim with multiple stab wounds, laying on the sidewalk. She was immediately transported by medics to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Police learned that concerned citizens intervened and chased the suspect from the scene and had him detained a short distance away. Police located and arrested Taji Kyle, age 16, who lives on S. Napoleon Ave in Columbus. He is the ex-boyfriend of the victim. Kyle stabbed and cut the victim over 20 times and brought lighter fluid and a lighter to the scene. He has been charged with Attempted Murder.

“This is a case where a few citizens of Whitehall sacrificed their own safety and security to stop this horrendous attack and chased down the suspect, which ultimately led to saving the life of this young girl and taking a dangerous criminal off the street. They acted as heroes, plain and simple,” stated Deputy Chief Dan Kelso.

The victim was critical but is now in stable condition and expected to recover from her injuries. The investigation is ongoing so no other names or pictures are being released at this time.
