Thinking about hosting a garage or yard sale in Whitehall? These types of home sales can be a great way to make a few extra dollars while promoting recycling and reuse of your unwanted items. 

Local ordinance requires that property owners and/or tenants to obtain a Home Sales Permit to host yard sales, garage sales, etc. (except for during Spring Clean-Up (the last week of April, first week of May). Please complete a Home Sales Permit application and return it to the Service Department, either in-person or via e-mail to building-department@whitehall-oh.us.

Garage/Yard Sale Requirements

  • Frequency: Sales are limited to two occasions per calendar year with the exception of home sales held during Spring Clean-Up (last week of April first week of May) which do not need a permit
  • Time: Sales are permitted between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. and may be up to three days long, as long as those days are consecutive (e.g. Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
  • Signage: One sign no larger than 3 square feet may be placed on the property where the sale is taking place. Signs may not be placed on utility poles, street signs or in any location other than the address where the home sale is being conducted.
